During 2022, we engaged our colleagues in a variety of ways:
- We ran a series of roadshows to educate colleagues about our strategy, encourage them to get involved in charity-led initiatives and offer them health checks. The roadshows took place across the company, including in engineering, at our engagement centres and in our crew areas
- We created individual sustainability action plans for directorates – specific tools allowing them to embed sustainability within their business area and day-to-day roles
- We included a climate-related target as part of colleagues’ remuneration criteria
- We continued to expand our network of War On Waste champions – a group of cabin crew who advocate onboard recycling, engage colleagues on our waste strategy and look at ways to improve sustainability onboard
- We welcomed a team of pilots into the sustainability team with a focus on improving our operational efficiency. Their aim is to embed environmental awareness in pilot training and ensure our pilots make climate-sensitive decisions where possible when flying
- We embedded a BA Better World module within our cabin crew training to educate new colleagues on our strategy and vision when joining the business
